Job Description


The Property Damage Liability Adjuster will investigate, determine liability, confirm coverage, estimate damages, reports status and negotiate settlement of customer claims.    Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged property, determines and reports on subrogation potential, and coordinates with internal departments in fact gathering and insurance carriers in policy compliance and reimbursement efforts.

Represents the company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of management at all times.   Personal contacts are a major part of activity and include carriers, customers, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors, special investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses and all others involved to the investigation and processing of claims.



  • Acknowledge new losses, provide a summary of the claim, analyze coverage issues, and identify claims issues through fact analysis and determine extent of company liability.
  • Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with customer/claimants and internal departments and witnesses regarding claims
  • Identify appropriate coverage/carrier and oversee claims management process with carrier(s)
  • Analyze complex information from multiple sources
  • Coordinates estimates cost of repair, replacement or compensation with third party agencies
  • Partner with organization functional teams in developing meaningful tools relating to claims performance
  • Negotiates, coordinates and supports claim resolution in collaboration with risk director, legal and carriers and defense counsel
  • Establish case reserves and resolve losses within scope of authority
  • Revises case reserves in assigned claim files to cover most probable outcomes within desk authority
  • Assists with preparation of loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future loss funding
  • Build and maintain quality working relationships with service providers, stakeholders and internal departments
  • Keep abreast of insurance industry news, issues, updates, and trends.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 620 All Lines Adjuster License required
  • AIC or CIC designation preferred
  • 4 - 7 years of professional experience required
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance coverage types, products and uses
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
  • Positive attitude and Professional demeanor
