JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating activities focused on processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, and calculating payroll.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review employee records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly-hired workers, and changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll
  • Record new or changed pay rates in payroll register
  • Prepare payroll transactions ensuring that they are processed accurately and timely
  • Oversee the Time and Attendance processing and ensure correct interface to the payroll system
  • Process all manual checks and adjustments to the payroll system
  • Oversee year-end processing to ensure the accuracy of W-2s
  • Process bi-weekly payroll journal entries, accruals and payroll-related cash entries
  • Perform research and provide ad hoc reporting as needed
  • Respond to questions and requests from employees
  • Review and respond to all correspondence received in the payroll department
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Typically reports to Management.  Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Mgr - Payroll
  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 0-2 years payroll experience
  • Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
