Job Description



The Release Management role includes scheduling, coordination and  management of releases across multiple environments.  The releases can be inclusive of software product updates, bug fixes, security improvements, and release related Project/Program initiatives.  Responsibilities will include leading release governance, best practices, and processes to help product development teams manage and deploy releases into all environments.  The Release Manager function works collaboratively with all stakeholders in the software development life cycle and is supportive of product management and quality assurance, as they set up their build dev/test environments.  Additionally, the release manager role assist the IT organization improve the software engineering processes and practices. Lastly, the Release Manager coordinates


  • Document the release scope and deliverables
  • Define target release schedule and roll back plan
  • Manages change control process and coordinates weekly change control meetings in support of the SDLC lifecycle and the system engineering team
  • Lead and coordinate the release readiness reviews, to include building orchestration plans, defining milestones, and the business Go/No-Go activities including the execution of the deployment plans and deployment checklists
  • Manage risks and lead the resolution of issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
  • Works collaboratively with the SCRUM Masters and project managers to document and communicate all changes for technology releases.
  • Release planning and execution; to include coordination and communication during and after deployment
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between multiple teams
  • Coordinate release approvals for releases to all environments utilizing Team Foundation Server
  • Works with Dev Ops Engineer in maintaining a release repository and managing key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of previous release and technology project management experience
  • 5 + years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
  • 2+ years of Release Management experience with Microsoft Team Foundation (TFS) Server 2017 preferred.
    Experience with additional release managements products highly desired.
  • Experience performing Release Management for cloud-based apps and services
  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycle practices and agile methodologies
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Formal training in project management practices preferred. PMP and agile certifications are desired.
