JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for processing, coordinating, and auditing of the time records, payroll data, maintaining payroll records, and calculating payroll with a strong focus on tax areas and new locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform tasks to maintain and review all employee/payroll records in the payroll system, posting changes in pay, updating tax status changes, and miscellaneous changes
  • Process bi-weekly payroll journal entries, accruals, and payroll-related cash entries
  • Prepare payroll transactions ensuring that they are processed accurately and timely
  • Maintain Time and Attendance processing and ensure correct interface to the payroll system
  • Audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, and update time and attendance records as required
  • Process manual checks and adjustments to the payroll system
  • Implement year-end reporting and processing to ensure the accuracy of W-2s
  • Perform research to prepare special reports for management and provide ad hoc reporting as needed
  • Respond to employee inquiries, questions, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Review and respond to correspondence received in the payroll department
  • Perform a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions
  • Process terminations as required by State Law and company policies
  • Document and update procedures
  • Perform duties including balancing earnings totals, computing and withholding of deductions associated with net earnings. Process voluntary and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments and reconciling related reports
  • Inspect automated system output such as registers and standard reports, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions
  • Maintain records related to the accumulation and use of time off and relevant reports
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Typically reports to Management.  Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Dir - Total Rewards
  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years payroll experience
  • CPP – Certified Payroll Professional or FPC - Fundamental Payroll Certification preferred
  • ADP WorkForceNow
  • Multi-State Payroll Tax at the state and local level
  • Canada payroll processing experience preferred
  • Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate;Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; Ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
  • Travel requirements: Negligible
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required
  • May be subject to  pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
