Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for managing the daily balance between revenue growth and margin expansion. The role has significant influence over competitive pricing strategies and price positioning. Will work directly with the operations and franchise teams as the subject matter expert with respect to pricing execution and develops pricing strategy and tactics that fit the enterprise objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee all Local pricing related matters; Develop costing rules and the management of yield for new business
  • Lead Demand Planners to observe and manage economic indices of locations in specific geographies
  • Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve business problems, and quickly arrive at recommendations that drive corporate priorities
  • Provide guidance to the sales department on Costing, Pricing and Yield
  • Responsible for designing and implementing a pricing effectiveness review program to track and analyze the business impact of Corporate Operations pricing moves
  • Identify risks and opportunities that the business may face in relations to business unit’s KPI’s performance
  • Follow forecasting methodologies such as Holt-Winters, Linear Regression and moving average techniques
  • Contribute to process development
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in pricing/revenue management
  • Achieve specific economic performance objectives
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: VP - Revenue Management  
  • Job is directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management). Job title example(s) of employees directly supervised:  Planner - Demand, Planner Apprentice - Demand

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in finance, economics, statistics, operations research, supply chain management or industrial engineering
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in pricing/market analysis or equivalent experience
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in the moving and storage industry or similar product
  • Knowledge of basic statistics, economics, marketing
  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt or Lean Certification a plus
  • Visual Basic, Access or other programming/reporting skills very desirable
  • Familiarity with using logistics technology (such as routing / scheduling optimization tools)
  • Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate; Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; Ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
  • Travel requirements: Approximately less than 10%
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours.
  • May be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
