Lead Software Engineer

Are you a Technical Lead rockstar who is looking for an exciting new challenge?  PODS is growing, and we have an immediate opening for a top notch, Lead Software Engineer who will lead a team in the development of high-performing, scalable, enterprise applications.

The Lead Software Engineer position is the senior most technical member of the PODS Software Engineering team – a group of amazing engineers currently building out the next generation of APIs and microservices necessary to integrate and support our new front end platforms - from NetSuite to mobile.  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java, building microservices and be highly motivated to coach and mentor the team in developing and delivering the best architected solution possible!

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • BS degree in Computer Science or related
    • 12+ years experience using Java, including Java 1.8, to develop large scale enterprise systems
    • 2+ years experience using Spring, Spring Boot, etc.
    • 2+ years experience using RabbitMQ (or similar)
    • 2+ years experience using Axway API Gateway (or similar)
    • Advanced knowledge of enterprise architecture and event driven architecture
    • Expertise in the pros/cons of REST and SOAP services
    • Expertise in multiple logging approaches and techniques
    • Expertise in designing and developing a microservices architecture with synchronous and asynchronous services
    • Experience implementing application security best practices
    • Experience implementing design patterns mentoring team on appropriate usage
    • Experience developing and implementing best practices and guidelines, code reviews, architecture reviews, security reviews, etc.

Job Requirements


  • Active self-learner and thought leader who thrives on staying on top of new technology trends and industry best practices
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach a team of 4-5 software engineers to the next level
  • Ability to lead the team in all areas of the development process, including the creation of functional and technical designs, implementation, unit testing, performing code reviews, etc.
  • Ability to lead the team in software architecture design discussions and decisions
  • Comfortable with conflict and skilled at guiding team members through debating Pros/Cons of various approaches as well as making the final call
  • Ability to lead the team in the development of software engineering standards and best practices, coding and architectural reviews, application security guidelines, etc. – and guide the team to ensure all standards are followed



  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate; Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device



  • Regular business hours.  Some additional hours may be required.
  • Travel requirements:  Negligible
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required
