Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the management of PODS physical security program. Principle duties include managing physical security staff, vendor relationships, and ensuring the incident management process is followed according to PODS policies and guidance documents.  This position manages physical security risks across all PODS locations and manages security equipment and training. The position provides physical security guidance and works closely with other business units to ensure physical security measures are in place and effective. The position is the corporate leader for physical security and acts as the subject matter expert for all aspects of physical security.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for physical security services and products
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and guidelines addressing physical security risks
  • Support and conduct internal investigations in accordance to legal requirements and company policies
  • Prepare reports and presentations regarding internal investigations, physical losses, or violations of regulations, policies, and procedures related to physical security
  • Perform physical security assessments of assets across PODS and maintain a risk management strategy
  • Ensure physical security risks are appropriately represented on the Enterprise Risk Register
  • Arrange for or perform executive and senior leader protection activities
  • Advise of travel security risks to PODS travelers including tracking travel, providing external intelligence, and response to high risk travel situations
  • Maintain relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement officials to aid in accomplishing protective security objectives such as intelligence collection, analysis and threat monitoring
  • Manages physical security staff including PODS associates, contractors, and guards

 

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to Management.  Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Director of Security and Communications
  • Job is directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of relevant corporate security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Knowledge and experience with security system (burglary, fire, duress, and CCTV or Web-based camera) installations and operation
  • Knowledge and experience managing physical badges, panels, and consoles from commercial vendors (Sonitrol/Stanley/ADT/Tyco)
  • Experience managing physical security integration and budgets

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate; Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
  • Travel requirements: Negligible
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours.
  • May be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
