Senior Software Engineer

Are you a Software Engineer who is looking for an exciting new challenge?  PODS is growing, and we have multiple immediate openings we are looking to fill with top notch, experienced software engineers who will be driving the back-end integration efforts to develop high-performing, scalable, enterprise applications. 

This position will be part of the Software Engineering Integrations team that is building out the next generation of APIs and Microservices necessary to support all new front end platforms - from our new ERP system to mobile.  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java and Spring, experience building microservices and be highly motivated to deliver the best architected solution possible!

Job Summary

The Senior Software Engineer (Engineer III – Software) is a senior technical member of the PODS Software Engineering team – a group of software engineers responsible for developing, supporting and maintaining microservices and APIs that integrate with NetSuite as well as developing, supporting and maintaining all PODS Non-NetSuite applications.

The Senior Software Engineer collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, NetSuite Development, Quality Assurance and Infrastructure teams and is responsible for participating and mentoring novice and mid-level members of the Software Engineering team in all areas of the software development process, including the creation of functional and technical designs, development, testing, performing code reviews, and deployment of applications.

As a senior technical team member, the Software Engineer III facilitates software architecture design discussions and decisions with the team and works with the Lead Software Engineer to drive the development of software engineering standards and best practices, application security guidelines, coding and architectural reviews, etc.

The Software Engineer III ensures all standards are followed by fellow team members.



  • Mentor a team of 4-8 software engineers
  • Participate and contribute in all areas of the development process, including the creation of functional and technical designs, implementation, unit testing, performing code reviews, etc.
  • Participate and contribute to the development of software engineering standards and best practices, coding and architectural reviews, application security guidelines, etc. – and guide the team to ensure all standards are followed
  • Participate and contribute in software architecture design discussions and decisions



  • Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Mgr, Software Engineering
  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management). This position may have supervisory responsibilities i.e. (temporary help, or part time employee).


Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related
  • 8+ years experience using languages such as Java to develop large scale enterprise systems
  • 2+ years experience leveraging open source frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, etc.
  • 2+ years experience leveraging messaging systems such as RabbitMQ (or similar)
  • 2+ years experience leveraging API gateways such as Axway API Gateway (or similar)
  • Intermediate knowledge of enterprise and event driven architectures
  • Experience in the pros/cons of REST and SOAP services
  • Experience in designing and developing a microservices architecture with synchronous and asynchronous services
  • Experience with multiple logging approaches and techniques
  • Experience implementing application security best practices
  • Experience implementing design patterns mentoring team on appropriate usage
  • Experience developing and implementing best practices and guidelines, code reviews, architecture reviews, security reviews, etc.
