JOB SUMMARY

 

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing a variety of goods and services utilizing computerized systems. Communicates clearly with vendors regarding requirements, discrepancies, pricing and substitutes. Prioritizes duties for optimum productivity. Processes and organizes purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents for Accounts Payable. Duties may include; meeting with stake holders regarding purchase requirements, developing and maintaining sources of supply, selecting suppliers, negotiating prices and delivery dates, issuing purchase orders, and following up on purchases with regard to delivery date, discrepancies, and backorder situations. May issue RFx for a variety of supplies, services and equipment utilizing Microsoft Office. Provides input into the development of policies and procedures and maintains purchasing related files and records including up to date catalogues and price lists.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing
  • Process purchase requisitions and update stake holders on status of orders
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Resolve delivery discrepancies
  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions
  • Provides analysis and reporting including ad-hoc reporting
  • Find sources for new products and resource existing products when needed.
  • Manages vendor return programs
  • Maintain item catalog
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include:  Parts and Services Supply Chain Manager
  • Job is not directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years purchasing experience in a corporate environment
  • Familiar with Procure to Pay (P2P) process
  • Possess working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • Ideal Candidate will have four-year degree related to supply chain management and or have ISM or APICS certification(s)
