Job Description


PODS has been recognized as the best moving and storage company and the Customer insights function is crucial in understanding who our customers are and how we can best serve them. This position is responsible for conducting primary and secondary research, compiling, and analyzing information on products, customers, macro and micro market conditions to support business development efforts, such as identifying potential new markets, sales opportunities, or the most effective methods of marketing specified products. He or she will build, evolve and manage the monthly trends dashboard and other recurring reporting. The successful candidate will be passionate about understanding and translating customer’s needs into actionable insights.



  • Identifies and defines the objective of an assigned marketing research project; determines the best methods to use to meet those objectives.
  • Drafts questionnaires, polls, surveys, and other data collection resources.
  • Researches and compiles data related to current product market, customer demographics and interest, and factors influencing product demand; analyzes results to identify ways of maximizing sales and market penetration of current products.
  • Compiles data related to competitors’ products such as pricing, sales, and marketing or distribution methodology.
  • Supports the product and marketing teams with ad-hoc primary and secondary research.
  • Summarizes and analyzes data; makes recommendations related to research findings.
  • Reports findings, complete with graphs illustrating data and written text explaining complex findings.
  • Identifies potential new products or markets through research.
  • Forecasts and tracks industry marketing and sales trends based on collected data.
  • Delivers reports and presentations of findings to the field, management and/or executive leadership.
  • Interfaces with third-party vendors as appropriate.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • BA/BS or its equivalent is desired; Marketing Research, Statistics, Math, or related field is preferred.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior research and analytical skills.
  • Have experience with key quantitative research tools and processes – specifically, questionnaire development, checking survey programming, managing fielding partners and monitoring progress, creating banner/tab plans, reading and quality control of data tables (if quant leaning)
  • Have experience with key qualitative research tools and processes – specifically, screener development, managing recruiting, discussion guide development, digital and in-person activity development, managing fieldwork, supporting execution of methods, synthesizing learnings, etc. 
  • Be skilled with extracting insights from raw data and visually bring those insights to life in creative ways
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and methodologies into easily understood language.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
